Pope Francis celebrates the closing of the Synod under the restored Baldachin. The Chair of St. Peter is on display.

Pope Francis will preside over the Eucharistic celebration at the conclusion of the Synod of Bishops on Sunday 27th October in St Peter's Basilica. The solemn Mass at 10:00 a.m., on the Altar of Confession, will be the first with Bernini's Baldachin unveiled, at the end of the restoration that lasted about nine months.
On the day that marks the anniversary of the World Day of Prayer for Peace that St. John Paul II wanted in Assisi in 1986.

At the end of the celebration, the Chair of St Peter, the wooden throne symbolising the primacy of Peter, will be exposed to the faithful: it will be taken to the Confession Altar in the Vatican Basilica where it can be venerated and admired until next 8th of December, the feast of the Immaculate Conception.
