VATICAN, OCTOBER 28th
The Basilica of St. Peter that goes to meet the pilgrims in the proximity of the Jubilee of 2025. To anticipate the embrace, a greeting in all the languages of the world and above all to accompany anyone to the house of Peter.
The Official Area of the Papal Basilica of St. Peter is born, an “all inclusive” space at the entrance of Via Della Conciliazione (at number 3A). A hub, but above all the place of welcome and meeting that anticipates the “real” visit to the basilica complex. The deepest meaning of this new point is proximity, being close and in solidarity, present at the meeting with everyone.
Thursday 31 October, at 12:00, the inauguration of the Official Area of the Basilica of St. Peter. The presentation will be preceded by the blessing, in the presence of Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, Archpriest of St. Peter’s Basilica, Vicar of the Holy Father for the Vatican City and President of the Fabbrica di San Pietro with Father Enzo Fortunato, Director of Communications of St. Peter’s Basilica.
The presence of the Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri has been announced.
The Basilica and the universal Church “listening” and “going out” through a wide range of proposals in five dimensions.
Starting from the welcome, offered through the welcome and human warmth of the staff who will ensure (in language) all the information requested. A functional and synergic service with the needs of the life of the Basilica and support for every need, especially in times of high attendance. For this reason, we will also rely on technology through a dynamic and latest-generation proposal, using touch walls, totems or with external and mobile operators equipped with tablets. Virtual and augmented reality experiences are planned that preview the Basilica, so as to prepare the visit, to discover details that are not entirely known, such as the restored Bernini baldachin. The project is aimed primarily at children and adolescents, which will lead to the involvement of schools throughout the Holy Year.
Spirituality, the ultimate goal of the experience in the Basilica, understood as encounter and knowledge, offers the possibility of booking exclusive, immersive, tactile visits for the visually impaired and facilitated for the disabled, using guides accredited by the Fabbrica di San Pietro and new and innovative itineraries, also through the healthy and conscious use of artificial intelligence.
Furthermore, the possibility of experiencing personal dialogues with religious and lay people aptitude-oriented to listening and empathy will be offered.
Accompaniment and hospitality, tools of otherness and charity, ensure the possibility of experiencing the spiritual experience and knowledge of faith. There are many people, authentically desirous of experiencing this grace, who find themselves, for the most varied reasons, unable to reach the house of Peter and His Door.
Through the activation of a widespread network (Parishes, Dioceses, Nunciatures, Embassies, Social Cooperation, Third Sector in general, associations, movements and groups) people with difficulties will be able to be put in a position to travel and be welcomed. The use of a simple and free app will make hospitality possible in places ready to offer a human and spiritual itinerary.
All this will be made possible through important agreements and collaborations between the Be Human association and the Fabbrica di San Pietro with major Italian mobility organizations.
Service is the gesture that remains in the memory: within the Official Area, in addition to the numerous activities illustrated, it will be possible to purchase exclusive and authentic objects, with the original logo of St. Peter’s Basilica.
By choosing a selected line of quality and sustainable objects, everyone will be able to choose a memory to take with them, the testimony of the strength of the experience destined to remain in the memory, to share with the dearest affections.
Civita Mostre e Musei, on behalf of the Fabbrica di San Pietro, will guarantee the sales activity of cultural, artistic and editorial products at the Official Area of the Basilica of San Pietro.
Finally, the new magazine of the Basilica, “Piazza San Pietro”, will also be available at the Official Area, with the possibility of subscribing to it.
