Confirmation of the date and time will be sent to the applicants with the clause ‘barring unforeseen circumstances’.
The Ordinary of the Mass is in Gregorian chant

- Ordinary Time Sundays, Mass XI - Orbis factor: Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, Agnus Dei
- Advent and Lent, Mass XVIII: Kyrie, Sanctus, Agnus Dei
- Easter Season, Mass I - Lux et origo: Kyrie, Gloria (Sundays and days of the Octave), Sanctus, Agnus Dei.
- Memorials, Feasts, Solemnities B.V.M., Mass IX - Cum jubilo: Kyrie, Gloria (feasts and solemnities), Sanctus, Agnus Dei
- Solemnities, Mass VIII - De Angelis: Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, Agnus Dei
The Choir sings in its own language or in Latin at the following moments of the Holy Mass:
- entrance song
- offertory (song lasting a maximum of 2 minutes)
- two Communion songs
- final song
In choosing the songs, always keep in mind the liturgical period, especially Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter.
Other Services
Continuous adoration takes place from Monday to Saturday: at the end of the Holy Mass at 8:30 a.m., the Blessed Sacrament is exposed, followed by Eucharistic Adoration which continues uninterrupted until 6:45 p.m., when the Eucharistic Blessing takes place.
Petrine Prayer
The Petrine Prayer, in Italian, takes place at the Altar of Confession at 12:45 p.m. on weekdays, except Wednesdays.
Rosary
In the months of May and October, every Saturday evening at 9:00 p.m., the recitation of the Rosary aux flambeaux takes place in St. Peter's Square, in which the image of the Mater Ecclesiae venerated in the Basilica is carried in procession. On May 31, the Rosary is recited in procession towards the Lourdes Grotto in the Vatican Gardens. On weekdays at 4:30 p.m. the recitation of the Rosary takes place at the Altar of the Chair of St. Peter's Basilica.
Petrine Itineraries
Every Wednesday in June at 4:00 p.m., starting from the atrium of the basilica, it is possible to participate in a spiritual itinerary in the footsteps of the apostle Peter, through the images and symbols present in some significant places of the Vatican basilica. The salient moments of Peter's life as a disciple and of his mission as pastor of the universal Church are remembered.
Via Petri
Every Saturday in June at 9:00 p.m. it is possible to participate in the prayer of the "Via Petri", a meditation on the life of the Apostle along the arms of the colonnade of St. Peter's Square. During the prayer, the images of the 12 stations that retrace the life of St. Peter are projected from the giant screens in the square, from the call on the Sea of Galilee to his martyrdom and burial on the Vatican Hill.
Blessing of objects
At the Sacristy of the Basilica it is possible to ask one of the Canons of the Chapter of St. Peter for holy water, as well as the blessing of sacred objects and mementos of the Basilica.
Celebration of the Sacraments
Sacrament of Reconciliation
In the Vatican Papal Basilica it is possible to approach the Sacrament of Reconciliation at the confessionals located in the right transept.
The Order of Friars Minor Conventual hears confessions in: Italian, English, French, Spanish, Polish, German, Portuguese, Chinese, Romanian, Malayalam, Maltese.
Anyone can request, by writing to ufficioparrocchiale@basilicasanpietro.va, the celebration of these sacraments, following the instructions that will be provided by the Parish Office.
The celebration of the sacraments is absolutely free and it is possible to contribute with a free offering. We invite you to be wary of unauthorized services and intermediaries and of anyone who comes between the requesting faithful and the parish office.
